Training Process
Online Training Sessions
After the application and training fees are received by IJA, a user name and password will be sent to the Show Promoter and/or Contest Coordinator to begin the online training sessions on Understanding How to Conduct an IJA Sanctioned Competition. The time frame for completing the online training sessions is approximately one month.
Onsite Training Sessions
After completion of the online training sessions, the onsite training sessions will be scheduled for Conducting an IJA Sanctioned Competition. The time frame for completing the onsite training is determined by the availability of IJA Sanctioned Competitions hosted by Barkleigh Productions.
Phase 1:
The Contest Coordinator must attend an onsite training session at a minor/major competition to complete Phase 1 of Conducting an IJA Sanctioned Competition.
Phase 2:
After completion of Phase 1 of the onsite training session, the Contest Coordinator must attend a major competition to complete Phase 2 of the onsite training. After completion of Phase 2, the Contest Coordinator will be prepared to host their first IJA Sanctioned Dog Grooming Competition.
Minor or Major Competition:
IJA conducts major and minor competitions. Minor competitions are used to encourage new contestants, certify contestants, qualify contestants for specific levels and conduct intensive onsite training for judges and show promoters. Major competitions are utilized to qualify groom team competitors, determine levels for competitors and to conduct onsite training sessions for show promoters and judges to practice what they have learned online and at the minor competition.
Minor Competition- A competition with less than 75 entries.
Major Competition- A competition with more than 75 entries.
