Fees & Application Procedures

Application
If you are a professional groomer and stylist and would like to begin a judging career or if you are currently a judge interested in applying for the prestigious position of an IJA Judge, you must first submit your application with the non-refundable $75.00 application fee.


Review of Application and Professional Profile
After review of your application and professional profile by the IJA Judges Acceptance Committee, the applicant, you will receive an official notification (email) from the committee.

Registration & Training
Upon acceptance, you will receive email notification with a link that will allow you to pay your $175.00 registration fee for your online and onsite training sessions in judging policies and procedures implemented by IJA. IJA will place you in a Judge in Training status until you have completed the required online and onsite training courses specific to IJA Judging Policies and Procedures.

Invitation ONLY
If you are an experienced judge and receive a special invitation from IJA to join the prestigious team of IJA Judges, you should complete the application with your professional profile information and then submit the $250.00 application, registration and processing fee.

Annual Membership
IJA Judges must submit an annual membership fee of $100.00 by December 15th of each year to renew Membership and receive Members Only Benefits for the upcoming year.

A judge who does not submit his/her annual membership fee by December 15th, will be placed as inactive.

Renewal fees must be received by December 15th for the IJA Administrative Team to process and complete all necessary procedures for judges to be placed active for the upcoming competition year.

Approval Procedure (Judges Acceptance Committee)
All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by April 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by July 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by October 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by January 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

Status: Active or Inactive
An IJA Judge is placed in an active status category upon acceptance. The status of an IJA Judge may change due to various reasons. An IJA Judge may ask to be placed as inactive due to medical, family and/or business or a judge may be placed in an inactive status due to entering the competition ring or for non-payment of annual membership dues.

RESTRICTIONS
IJA Judges are not permitted to compete in the competition arena. If an IJA Judge enters the competition ring, the IJA Judge will be placed as inactive for the remainder of the competition year.

If an IJA Judge qualifies for a Level 4 Competition before applying and being approved for an IJA Judge position, the IJA Judge can complete his or her obligations and compete in the competition without being placed as inactive. If the judge has already started his/her judging, the IJA Judge must not continue to judge until after the competition.

Reinstatement
To apply for reinstatement, the inactive judge must update the profile information and pay the renewal fee.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by July 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by October 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.

All applications, reinstatement requests and renewals received by January 1st will be placed on the agenda for review by the Judge Acceptance Quarterly Team Meeting.
